Happy New Year!
How are you? As excited as I am to get this new year started, I’d like to take this time to reflect on 2014. There have been some years, I look back and realize I didn’t accomplish a lot and then I realize that maybe I didn’t get everything on my list done but there is still so much to be proud of. I am definitely proud of myself this year.
Business: I’ve been a personal trainer part time for about 7 years. 5 years ago, I left the gym and started private training on my own. First at parks, then in my home gym. Over the years, I had many people ask if I ever would do group training. I was always turned it down because I liked the one on one attention I could give someone and felt they would get better results that way. Well, I realized, not everyone could afford private training sessions so in January 2014 I started group training, and I was really surprised at the interest. For a group class, I usually train 2-3 people at a time and it’s turned out great. My clients still get great results and and its something they can afford because the cost is shared. This is a decision I’m definitely proud of.
Another business decision was to attend IDEA 2014 Blogfest in August. It’s the biggest fitness convention around and I had been wanting to go for years but money was super tight at the time so I really debated on going but I found a way to go and I’m so glad I did. I came away so motivated. You can read more about it here and here.
Personal: I stopped eating meat. I’ve never been a big meat eater. I actually grew tired of it so in June, I went Vegan for 21 days. At first it was easy but I started to miss my egg burritos and occasional splurge on pizza so after 21 days I became a vegetarian. Although I didn’t commit to 100% vegan I’m proud of the fact I now eat at least 75% plant based foods with occasional eggs and cheese. I can proudly call myself a vegetarian. I’m proud of that accomplishment.
Home: My goal is to have an edible garden to eat from so this year we planted a lemon and an orange tree. We haven’t had any Lemons yet but we got some oranges and they were delicious! I’m excited to plant more fruit trees this new year.
Faith: I read three books out of the bible. I would love to read it all but for now I’m proud of reading what I did.
Last but not least, I started this blog this year am so happy I did. I really enjoy sharing recipes, fitness ideas, life and connecting with others who share the same interests.
Its been a great year and I have so much to be thankful for.
Have a safe and Happy New Year!
